Spotlight On: myFutureNC (Updated for 2021)

Throughout the 2020 edition of Facts & Figures, the myFutureNC icon indicates key education performance measures directly tied to North Carolina’s education-to-workforce continuum and the state goal of increasing educational attainment to 2 million by 2030. In 2017, North Carolina was just one of nine states that had not yet set a goal for educational attainment. The myFutureNC Commission was formed to develop a vision for attainment across North Carolina, from early childhood through postsecondary education. In 2019, the myFutureNC Commission announced a new statewide goal to help build a cross-sector, coordinated approach that tackles systemic challenges and barriers across the education continuum:

 

 

On the current trajectory, myFutureNC estimates that North Carolina will fall short of individuals with the skills needed to fill our state’s projected 2030 jobs needs by at least 400,000 people.
